Communication Policy

Throughout the dance year, there will be several important dates, activities and information that will need to be communicated to parents and dancers. Handouts with important correspondence will be given to your dancer at the end of his/her class. An email may also be sent out to those of you who provided us with an email address. Please make sure you add Expressions Dance Institute as a “safe” address on your email account. We will also keep the website updated. We know that information sometimes has a hard time getting from student to parent, so we will have extra copies of all information at the studio. Please check inside the studio regularly to make sure that you are aware of any information that has been communicated. Our main goal is to keep parents informed on upcoming dates and events.

Attendance

Attendance will be taken at each class and is extremely important in the progress of each dancer. Every week, the students will be learning new skills and choreography and unnecessary absences are a hindrance to the student, teacher and fellow classmates. If you know that you will not be attending class, please notify the studio by leaving a message prior to the start of your class. If you are injured, you are still welcome and encouraged to come and watch class. Absences from dance classes are non-refundable. Please make sure that students use the bathroom BEFORE class begins.

Drop-Out Policy

If for any reason your child stops dancing, you are expected to notify the dance program director immediately. A one month written notice must be given. If your child drops dance class after costumes have been ordered you will still be required to pay for the full costume fee. Remember that BOTH the registration fee and the costume are Non-Refundable.

Weather Policy

If classes are cancelled due to weather or emergencies, we will be placing this information on WAOW, Facebook, our App and our “keep in the loop” page here on our website. We will always let families know at least by noon if classes will be canceled. Refunds will not be issued in cases of inclement weather. Two snow days are built into the full year program. If a class has more then 2 snow days we will be making that class up.

Holiday/School Days off Policy

The Expressions Dance Institute does not necessarily follow the school calendar for holiday/days off. Please see our calander for the official dates. There are no classes on the following dates:  Thanksgiving break, Christmas break, Spring break, and Memorial Day. Classes will be held the first week of June.

Parent Watch

Parent/s, guardians, friends etc…are not allowed inside the dance studio to watch class. We will have the viewing window open for you to watch your child. The studio is equipped with viewing windows in the waiting room where parents are free to watch their child’s dance class. However, the instructor holds the right to close the shades if the waiting room becomes a distraction to the dancers. Please remember that the viewing windows are a privilege.

Dress Code

Dancers are expected to arrive at the studio dressed in the appropriate dancewear and ready to dance at their scheduled start time. In order for each student to fully be able to participate in class and the learning experience, she/he should wear clothing that permits movement and allows instructors to easily view muscles and body lines making for significantly easier corrections. We would like hair pulled back and tied away from the face securely. Gum is not allowed inside the studio.

Shoe Requirements

Dancers are required to wear specific shoes for each class to ensure safety and ease of motion. For a complete list of shoe requirements, please call the studio or talk to your instructor. You will be able to purchase all shoes at the Open House in August. After the initial shoe sale in August, we will only order shoes on a monthly basis beginning October 1. Information Sheets with shoe styles and prices are at the studio. Try-on samples are also available.

Costumes

The dance instructors will determine the selection of recital costumes and will take all necessary measurements in October. All prices and information can be found on our tuition page. Some costumes require parents to do a limited amount of sewing and piecing together. One pair of tights are included in tuition. The costume fee is included in the monthly tuition price as well.

Recital

All students participate in the Recital. Mark your calendars now to avoid any conflicts! The Recital location will be the Mosinee Creske Center Auditorium. Participants with outstanding balances will not be allowed to participate in the recital or purchase any recital tickets until the balance is paid in full. Tickets will go on sale in May.

Dress Rehearsal

A full dress rehearsal will be held at Mosinee Creske Center Auditorium. Times will be announced in early spring. This rehearsal gives dancers an opportunity to dance on stage in full costume prior to the recital. It is extremely important that all dancers attend the rehearsal. Individuals are welcome to take pictures and videotape the dress rehearsal.

Dance Pictures

Dance pictures will be taken in the Spring prior to recital. Picture dates and information will be handed out several months in advance so you can plan your schedules accordingly. Even if you choose NOT to purchase a package, it is encouraged that your child takes part in the picture taking. Students will be required to wear their recital costumes.
